A large basic gaff sloop sail plan eliminates genoas, winches and similar expenses; a club-foot jib simplifies handling. Tay I has a transom hung rudder and deck overall length of 6.78m; Tay II extends the hull aft to bring the rudder onboard thus giving and overall deck length of 7.09m. Bowsprit increase the overall lengths by 0.71m. Her spacious cabins have berths for four, enclosed heads and a large galley. She has a long centre keel plus bilge keels, hard chine hull and is designed to accept up to a 10hp inboard diesel engine. A good hefty cruising boat of traditional style. The wheel shelter and doghouse arrangement on a Tay II as shown in the bottom photo does not feature on the designs.
