A liveaboard project (the original. Rolling Wave, after nearly 30 years was still in service with the original owners). Rolling Wave features two different layouts; two different rigs; and three different keel types. Number one has accommodation for two and is divided up into master bedroom and social/work areas. Other 31’s have space for up to five berths. The enormous beam makes for slow, but sure progress in all weathers and entertaining below is easy with the space available.
The three keel types include centreboard; moderate length centre keel; and triple keel formats. Both rigs are of bermudan form, a straight ⅞ th sloop as per the original or masthead cutter for the single fin keel.
The classic appearance hides the 1.93m (6’4″) headroom and the beam gives the impression of a forty footer above and below decks plus the ability to carry her sail. Many have proved successful in long distance cruising, including transatlantic.
Engines around 30 hp continuous rating are recommended.
