Yet another gaff cutter, which has proved popular with the amateur builder, but of East Coast style featuring moderate sheer and ends to give a long waterline length and improved speed. The hull is of high volume type giving standing headroom all through. The standard layout is for four to five persons (three of which are sea berths for passage making). A generous galley plus enclosed toilet/shower compartment, separate chart table and good volume stowage for both personal and ships. equipment. The simple strip chine hull is of moderate displacement set over a long keel with transom hung rudder. Engine 20-30hp. A good project for the larger family or extended cruising project in a gaff sloop.
Photo shows a Cordingley, amateur built, which has cruised much of Scandinavia including up around the Arctic circle from a Newcastle base.
